More about the Huffman Family

Mark - A graduate from Northwestern College in St. Paul with degrees in Computer Information Systems and Biblical Studies, Mark is a computer network consultant turned church planter and pastor. Being a lifelong learner, Mark has furthered his theological education through many different church based theological courses and practical experiences.

Mark left his successful consulting business to help Fellowship Bible Church of St. Cloud, Minnesota, plant the first Gospel preaching church in the Central Minnesota town of Pierz. As pastor of Fellowship Bible Church of Pierz, Minnesota, God used Mark's teaching and leadership to firmly establish this church in a very Catholic community.

God led Mark and his family to another significant change and in 2006 they moved to Odessa, Ukraine to be involved in church planting and training the next generation of leaders in the former Soviet Union.

Ukraine Ministry

Mark is currently involved in four primary ministries. First, Mark is a pastor at Living Hope Church in Odessa, Ukraine. The fall of 2008 God gave the church a great leadership team and lead them to start one of the few Gospel preaching churches in this neighborhood of almost ¼ million people. Pastoring a first generation church in the former Soviet Union is a difficult challenge, but a great blessing.

Second, Mark is an instructor at a local university. “Professor” Huffman teaches English, business and theology courses, training over 90 students each semester.

Third, Mark is also a director at International Messengers’ Seaside Missionary Training Center in Odessa. Here Mark spends time training men and women, and discipling young men, future missionaries, church planters and church leaders from all around Eastern Europe. The students spend 3 months getting classroom training, practical ministry practice, and discipleship. Then they are sent out on a 6 month internship. Internships have included Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, India, Philippians, and Uganda.

Fourth, Mark also leads a small team of missionaries from three countries in their small part to fulfill the great commission. This includes teaching English, English clubs, English camps, basketball and baseball camps, adventure camps, small group Bible studies, and serving in their church.

Kim - A graduate from Northwestern College in St. Paul with degrees in Elementary Education and Biblical Studies, Kim is a former elementary school teacher who focused on homemaking, children's ministry and discipling. God used Kim to establish a children's ministry at Fellowship Bible Church of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Fellowship Bible Church of Pierz, Minnesota. Kim has also been involved in women's ministry including discipling many women.

Ukraine Ministry

Kim’s primary work has been taking care of her “four” boys, teaching elementary school, and discipling young women. Kim never dreamed of raising kids in the former Soviet Union or in a city of 1.3 million people, not to mention a Russian speaking city. It certainly presents many challenges. Like Mark, Kim also is very involved in English and camp ministry. As our boys graduate from high school, Kim spends more time mentoring future missionaries and church leaders and is an instrumental part of our small missionary team and all of its work.

Christian - (Chris) is studying Computer Science and Mathematics at College of the Ozarks, near Branson, Missouri. Growing up in Odessa has meant sacrificing many opportunities, but has taught Chris many life changing lessons and developed him into an excellent man of God. We miss Chris here in Odessa, but we are thankful for the time he served with us here and we know God is leading him and caring for him.

Benjamin - (Ben) is studying Mechanical Engineering at Cedarville University in Ohio. He is an excellent student. Ben excels in sports and art and plays acoustic guitar and bass guitar. Likewise, his years in Odessa uniquely prepared him as an excellent man of God. Ben earned an Air Force ROTC scholarship. So he is also studying military science and leadership.

Nathan - (Nate) is a people person. He is also an excellent student. Nate likes sports and his computer.

Ukraine Ministry

Nate is the life of the party and does a good job of making people a part of the many groups we work with. He is quick to participate in discussions, games and Bible studies and brings fun and excitement to each discussion.
